Hi, I'm Katherine Kuczewski, a self-taught painter based in Ottawa, Canada.

As a child, I spent many hours in my bedroom in the Montreal suburbs drawing, painting, and creating. Van Gogh was such an inspiration that I painted my wooden bed in the Starry Night theme. Drawing was my first foray into art, but painting is my true love. I followed more practical paths of science and design, yet here I am 20 years later coming full circle and returning to my love of art.

As a result of the pandemic and two babies at home, I was given the opportunity to reconnect with painting. After two years of daily drawing, I found the daily painting movement and never looked back. I still continue this process of experimenting daily, which brings me great joy. I discovered I could finally share my interpretations of the world around us and tell stories to inspire others through my art. 

I draw inspiration from nature, travel and everyday life. Sparked by my studies in wildlife biology and my love of the outdoors, animals hold a special place in my heart. No matter the subject, I continually try to bring more beauty, wonder and awe into this world through my work.
